Why fund an IRA early?
If you wait until the tax deadline to fund your IRA each year, you will miss out on 15 months of potential tax deferred growth on your contribution.  For example, many people will wait until April 17, 2018, to contribute to their IRAs for 2017, when they could fund them as early as January 2, 2017.
