Join us for On the Menu with Brandon Volunteer Fire Department Chief Robert Dykstra and his presentation: Brandon Volunteer Fire Department: Brief History and Everything You Wanted to Know.
The presentation will provide a brief history of the Brandon Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, information will be provided on the Fire Department as to the services provided, the various types of calls we respond to, how the Fire Department functions as a volunteer organization, and what the future holds as Brandon continues to grow. There will be a time for questions at the end of the presentation.
About Chief Dykstra:
My family and I moved to Brandon in 2002 after I joined Sioux Falls Fire Rescue. After witnessing a minor car accident in Brandon and stopping to assist, I was asked about joining Brandon Fire. I joined the Brandon Volunteer Fire Department in August of 2003. Since joining, I have tried to remain active within the Fire Department, and have held various offices over the years. I was Fire Chief from 2009 to 2013, and then again from 2018 to present.
