Early Learning Closing Manager

The Closing Manager for the Early Learning Academy (ELA) program ensures the facility is prepared for the next day and that end-of-day operations are completed smoothly by preparing the facility, overseeing staff, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for children and parents. This role involves coordinating staffing needs, assisting in classrooms as required, and providing excellent customer service to parents. The Closing Manager ensures that all standards are met and supports the Early Learning Academy Directors in daily operations.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure the facility is clean, organized, and ready for the next day; oversee closing duties.
  • Supervise staff while providing guidance and coaching as needed.
  • Answer phone calls and deliver exceptional customer service to parents.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about daily activities and any behavioral issues.
  • Maintain a safe environment, responding to children’s individual needs and emergencies.
  • Coordinate with ELA Directors to maintain classroom compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Assist in classrooms to meet ratio requirements and help with diapering and potty training.
  • Monitor and apply staff-to-child ratios to ensure proper coverage in each classroom while maintaining adherence to scheduled shift times.
  • Oversee classroom environment and children’s play activities to ensure safety.
  • Assist with sanitizing toys and play areas, as well as light housekeeping (laundry, cleaning, linens).
  • Manage any situations that may arise in the absence of ELA Directors.
  • Provide additional support to classrooms with behavioral needs.
  • Set up indoor/outdoor spaces for safe and creative play.
  • Document and report incidents or concerns to the ELA Directors.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Welcome new children, explain facility rules, and encourage their participation.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the ELA Directors.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience, education or training in early childhood development and behaviors is preferred. 
  • A valid CPR Certification or the ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of employment is required. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire does provide training for those not certified.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Must be reliable with good attendance and consistency to be on time.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities. 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Constant hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination.
  • Intermittent speaking, standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, reaching, low-level activity, and squatting.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Frequent lifting of objects under 20 pounds, and occasional lifting of items up to 75 pounds.
  • Indoor with minimal outdoor work. Extreme temperature in the summer and winter to be expected.
