Job Overview: The RN is responsible for both direct and indirect nursing care to residents. Care must be of the quality and quantity as given by the average nurse in the community at that time. This care must be executed according to what the individual care plan states. The RN must show leadership ability and supervise the MAs and CNAs.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Plan and execute nursing care according to individual care plans and physician's instructions.
- Assess residents' physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs.
- Supervise and assist nursing assistants with resident care.
- Initiate and modify care plans as needed.
- Monitor residents' conditions and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to ensure optimal resident care.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, team members, and healthcare professionals.
- Administer medication with utmost care and attention to detail.
- Maintain accurate and concise records of resident care.
- Assist with discharge planning and provide resident and family education.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a nursing program and current RN licensure in South Dakota.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, procedures, and ethics.
- Ability to work under stress and adapt to changing situations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards residents and their families.
- Reliable transportation and good physical and mental health.
- Availability to work every other weekend.
