As a Student Success Specialist, you'll play a vital role in promoting positive behavior and fostering social skills development amongst our youth. While collaborating closely with a wide range team of employees, families, and our Student Success Director, you'll have the opportunity to evaluate and support student behavior plans specifically designed for early learning and elementary students. You will also provide individual and small-group interventions to enhance social-emotional skills and closely monitor student progress. This role will also support staff by providing professional development opportunities, child development trainings related to social skills and behavior, and ongoing classroom coaching to enhance effective behavior management strategies and positive learning environments.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in the development and implementation of Student Success Plans for children and youth with identified needs by completing observations, implementing Student Success Plans, monitoring progress, coaching staff, and making suggestions for modifications as needed.
- Ensure Student Success strategies are consistent with the mission and goals of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire.
- Provide guidance and structure for children and youth throughout all BGCSE programs, regardless of whether they are working directly with the Student Success Team or not by modeling positive behavior, providing guidance, teaching social skills and emotional regulation, and following through with expectations, including appropriate consequences for behavior.
- Prepare children and youth for further development by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources that are designed to promote physical, mental, emotional and social development and well-being.
- Establish relationships with children, youth, families, and other staff to create an environment of acceptance and belonging. This includes welcoming new families, children and youth to activities and encouraging participation.
- Model high-quality care standards and professionalism at all times.
- Follow established policies and procedures for the organization as well as the Student Success program, offering suggestions for improvement as appropriate.
- Frequent communication with Student Success Director and Coordinator regarding progress, concerns, and needs of the children, youth, programs, program staff, or Student Success team members.
- Remain current on best practices in trauma-informed care by participating in relevant training and professional development to support the emotional and behavioral needs of children and youth.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Maintain accurate reports, records, and data pertaining to children, youth and Student Success program.
- Create and lead a variety of professional development opportunities for staff including trainings, modeling of skills, and coaching on the implementation of Student Success Plans and behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with program staff, families, and other professionals to support children and youth’s behavior and social development.
- Provide ratio coverage across programs as needed.
- Responsible for all other duties and tasks assigned by the Student Success Director and/or Coordinator.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or youth or working knowledge of behavior management and social skills development is required.
- Associates degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience leading a group is preferred.
- A valid CPR Certification or the ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of employment is required. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire does provide this training for those not certified.

- Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, work independently, and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Constant hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination.
- Intermittent speaking, standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, reaching, low-level activity, and squatting.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
- Frequent lifting of objects under 20 pounds, and occasional lifting of items up to 75 pounds.
- Indoor with minimal outdoor work; extreme temperature in the summer and winter can be expected.
